Two new brochures from VisitScotland will inspire all lovers of Scottish wildlife and arm them with the practical information needed to experience it for themselves. Scotland boasts an impressive list of wild creatures, ranging from massive sea eagles and copious red deer to whales and dolphins off the north and west coasts; puffins on the Isle of May; 100,000 gannets crowding on to the Bass Rock off the East Lothian coast; and red squirrel, pine marten and wildcat which seek seclusion in the remnants of the ancient Caledonian forest.

In most areas there are guides and operators with the local knowledge, experience and specialised equipment to give you a high chance of making some spectacular sightings. Wildlife expeditions, Highland adventure safaris by Land Rover, leisurely cruises, close encounters with sea-life using high-speed launches and guided treks through wild and remote landscapes are just some of the trips available.

The colourful “Wildlife Scotland” brochure, and its companion volume which details guided trips, visitor attractions and holidays, are available free from VisitScotland – call 0845 22 55 121 or see the website wildlife.visitscotland.com
