Edinburgh, Scotland, Night Bus with a Ghostly Difference

Night-time walking tours of Edinburgh to discover its ghosts and infamous citizens of old have been a feature of the city’s tourist trail for years. Now parties of 15 or more need do no more than jump aboard a bus for a taste of the gruesome and spooky.

Mercat Tours and Lothian Buses have joined forces to launch the GhostBus Tour. Passengers are greeted by a cadaverous bus conductor before rattling off to ‘supernatural hot-spots’, haunted houses and graveyards where Burke and Hare – the real-life Edinburgh body snatchers – plied their wicked trade. The evening ends at a reputedly haunted pub where customers enjoy a much needed drink – though spirits are optional.

The two-hour tour costs £15 and runs all year but must be booked in advance.
