K-2 Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Pakistan

Pakistan is a repository to five of the world’s 13 highest mountain peaks. No other country can boast of setting where four great mountain ranges—the Karakoram, Himalaya, Pamir and Hindukush—converge to form such a spectacular rise in altitudes and form a unique landscape.

Pakistan’s premier has inaugurated the opening ceremony of golden jubilee celebrations of the first ascent of K-2, the highest mountain in Pakistan and the second highest in the world.

The theme of the first session will be “ Mountains of Pakistan—ascent of K-2 and Nanga Parbat”. Renowned mountaineer Nazir Sabir, the first Pakistani who conquered the Everest will make a presentation on K-2 and Nanga Parbat—history of mountain expeditions and experiences”.
