Cyprus Tourism Update
The president of the Cyprus Tourism Organization (CTO), Mr. Photis Photiou, discussed the prospect of religious tourism with the Bishop of Kykkos Nikiforos, who gladly offered his help with the development of cooperation among orthodox countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, and Russia. Mr. Photiou also met with the Chinese ambassador in Nicosia. The Chinese market is regarded significant for Cyprus, as Cyprus is waiting for the official agreement between EC and China, which will be followed by Cyprus May 1.
As of Jan. 9, all Cypriot travel agents have been advised by Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ manager of consular affairs division, Mr. Charalambos Kapsos, regarding visa requirements for Cypriot passport holders visiting Russia and Russian passport holders visiting Cyprus. In both cases, visa arrangements should be done prior to departure from country of origin.
The Association of Cyprus Travel Agents (ACTA) is celebrating its 50 years through a dinner gala at the Hilton Park Nicosia on Friday, Jan. 23. Cyprus Airways is said to be sponsoring the event.
