China and South East Asia Remains the Top Market Focus in Travel Industry
China remains the top interested market to the trade industry in the region according to a recent survey conducted at The 18th International Travel Expo Hong Kong (ITE HK 2004) while North Asia and Middle East recorded about 50% growth comparing to the survey done at the same travel expo in last September. The survey was conducted on the trade days (10-11 June) of ITE HK 2004. There were 8,400 trade visitors recorded and 300 completed questionnaires were obtained. About 34% of the trade visitors came from outside Hong Kong with over half of them from China.
According to the survey, the market trade visitors are most interested in is PR China (23.4%), followed by South & Southeast Asia (17.2%) and Europe (15.2%). Hotels and resorts are the focal point of visitors’ interests (21.1%), while the next ones are ground transportation (14.8%) and attractions / destinations/ theme parks (13%). 53.6% of the trade visitors were coming for developing new markets and products.
Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, the Organizer, expressed, “With the support of China National Tourism Administration, we have had a large China Pavilion at ITE HK which drew much attention from the industry. And we have set up a special zone to gather Chinese hotels for buyers’ easy access. I believe that the up-growing Chinese travel market will attract more and more buyers to ITE HK in the future.”
ITE HK has been proven again that the concept of having the first two trade days for trade and corporate buyers, and then the last two days for public consumer can offer exhibitors a greater returns by combining promotions to target trade, corporate and public visitors within a 4-days event. Concurrent forums, seminars and presentations on new travel topic and attractions were well-received by trade visitors. “MICE Market (Exhibition & Conference) Forum”, which was organized the first time at ITE HK, attracted over 100 attendances. The corporate travel seminars were expanded to full day program in ITE HK this year and recorded a great success. Over 500 participants from corporations in different industries registered, representing a 66% increase over its last edition.
Among the respondents, over 70% of the trade visitors were satisfied with the show. 87.7% responded that they were interested in visiting the next ITE HK. A 4-days event attracted a total of 63,400 visitors from trade and public.
The next ITE HK is scheduled for 9 – 12 June 2005 at Hall 5, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
